# Leeds United: Phil Hay suggests Fikayo Tomori move unlikely

**Phil Hay has dropped a quite damning transfer update on Fikayo Tomori, who has been [linked](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55343197) with a move to Leeds United in this month’s window.**

Sharing a piece that he co-wrote for [The Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/2307848/2021/01/08/transfer-news-arsenal-liverpool-explained-football/), the football journalist [claimed](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1347454154256560128) that the Yorkshire club are not in the market for another central defender in January, and added that ‘[Bielsa (is) happy to make do](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1347454154256560128)‘.

### Tomori would be a good signing for Leeds

Given that Marcelo Bielsa’s team have conceded no fewer than [33](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) goals in the Premier League after just the 17 games so far in the 2020/21 term, the second most behind West Brom, the Whites should be looking for a commanding centre-back to try and fix their defensive issues.

Even though he is only 23 years of age, Tomori may well fit the bill based on some of his [‘amazing’](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2019/09/16/chelseas-fikayo-tomori-praised-by-garth-crooks/) displays for Chelsea under Frank Lampard last season.

The England international won a mammoth 5.2 of his duels per game in the top flight, and also averaged a very impressive 2.8 clearances, 1.9 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per match ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/fikayo-tomori/788255)).

However, it looks as if the Peacocks are highly unlikely to make a move for him in this month’s transfer window, at least according to Hay, but they should really be looking into bringing a centre-half in to help them stop leaking goals for the rest of the campaign.
