# Leeds United: Premier League side now keen on late move for Raphinha

**West Ham are reportedly keen on making a late move for Leeds United star Raphinha before the January transfer window closes.**

### The Lowdown: Raphinha enjoiying superb season

The Whites may have had a season to forget overall but someone who has shone throughout the campaign is their brilliant Brazilian winger.

Raphinha has [scored eight](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300447/Show/Raphinha) Premier League goals in 19 starts, comfortably leading the way for Leeds, as well as providing his usual skill, quality and unpredictability out wide.

It could be hard to keep hold of the 25-year-old beyond the summer but a fresh rumour claims a January exit could even be possible.

### The Latest: West Ham eye up move

According to [*90min*](https://www.90min.com/posts/west-ham-interested-in-late-swoop-for-leeds-winger-raphinha), West Ham could make a bid for Raphinha before the January transfer window ends.

The promise of European football is seen as a way to trying to entice him to the club, with the Hammers currently in the Europa League knockout stages.

The outlet’s reporter, [Toby Cudworth](https://twitter.com/Toby_Cudworth/status/1487119627574558728?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet), also shared some information on Twitter: “Will take a substantial offer for LUFC to entertain any kind of deal but have learned that West Ham are interested & may test their resolve.”

### The Verdict: Surely not

While a summer exit is easy to envisage, sadly – he has been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-transfer-rumours/leeds-liverpool-again-linked-with-move-for-raphinha/) with a move away – the thought of losing Raphinha in January doesn’t bear thinking about and surely won’t happen.

With Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford out [injured](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/sperrenundverletzungen/verein/399) at times this season, including currently, the Brazil international is an even more important figure than ever, and to sell now with Phillips and Bamford sidelined would essentially leave Marcelo Bielsa without his three best players.

If Leeds were to lose him now, they could genuinely find themselves in a relegation fight and likely wouldn’t have the time to find an ideal replacement.

Dan James has [claimed](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/magician-daniel-james-full-praise-22157240) his teammate can do ‘absolutely anything’ as a player, and we believe any offers for the Brazil star should be rejected, no matter the price.
