# Leeds United: Pundit believes Ben White will sign permanent deal

**Former Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown [believes](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-michael-brown-suggests-ben-white-may-be-at-leeds-next-season/) the club will make a permanent move for Ben White, but they may need Brighton and Hove Albion to be relegated.**

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are on the verge of gaining promotion to the Premier League after producing consistent form throughout the 2019/2020 campaign.

Sitting top of the Championship table as things stand, one of the club’s key performers this season, White, will [return](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-white/profil/spieler/335721) to action on the [weekend of June 20](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11688/11998319/championship-set-to-restart-on-weekend-of-june-20) and perhaps play his final games for the club.

On a one-year loan spell from Premier League side Brighton, [White](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-white/profil/spieler/335721) has been in superb form, providing Bielsa with a consistent and trusting centre-back option. Indeed, he has averaged three clearances, 2.3 interceptions and 1.7 tackles per game in the Championship ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322036/Show/Ben-White)).

Having agreed a [loan extension](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/06/01/leeds-uniteds-promotion-hopes-boosted-ben-white-poised-sign/) of late due to the postponement of fixtures due to the pandemic, the young English defender’s permanent future is now being discussed.

Parent club Brighton will [undoubtedly](https://www.brightonandhoveindependent.co.uk/sport/football/brighton-and-hove-albion/dan-ashworth-reveals-brightons-stance-ben-whites-tricky-contract-situation-leeds-united-2848151) want to keep hold of the 22-year-old, but with their Premier League future hanging in the balance, that desire could come to a grinding halt.

And, former Leeds man Brown believes that if the Seagulls are relegated then his former club will be in pole position to make a move.

*“I think the situation with Ben White’s going to be interesting, I think there will be some good interest in him,”* Brown told [Football Insider.](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-michael-brown-suggests-ben-white-may-be-at-leeds-next-season/)

*“That will be one Leeds United will be looking to try and do and see if there’s anything to be done in that. I think if you’re Brighton, it all depends on where you finish in the league.*

*“That’s obviously going to be key, where Brighton are going to be. The player gets so much of a say in it but if Brighton are still in the Premier League, it could be very difficult.”*

White has certainly been an [excellent](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-white/profil/spieler/335721) player this season for Leeds and losing him would be a small disaster for Bielsa, who has trusted the youngster from the get go this term.

Should Bielsa fail to secure a permanent move, he will have to find a suitable replacement, but given White’s impact, that could be hard.
