# Leeds United: Rodrigo missed his chance versus West Ham United

**Rodrigo missed his chance to impress Marcelo Bielsa versus West Ham United in what was his first start in the Premier League for [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/131505/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=399&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) games.**

The former Valencia star was deemed one of the worst players on the pitch by [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/west-ham-united-leeds-united/JsM) with a quite measly 6.7 rating, and it is very easy to see why based on some of his stats from the match.

\[freshpress-poll id=”337892″\]

He lost possession of the ball no fewer than on 20 separate occasions in the clash, which was only worsened by his teammate Raphinha and Sebastian Haller for David Moyes’ team ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/west-ham-united-leeds-united/JsM)).

Rodrigo also only managed to record a mere 63% pass accuracy, which was the lowest out of any of the Whites at Elland Road, and even more shocking considering that the striker played in a deeper role under Bielsa ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/west-ham-united-leeds-united/JsM)).

Recording fewer touches than goalkeeper Illan Meslier, as well as losing out on no fewer than eight of his duels and making no key passes ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/west-ham-united-leeds-united/JsM)), he failed to make any sort of real impact for the Peacocks throughout the whole evening.

### What is next for Rodrigo?

With just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/131505/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=399&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) goal in 11 matches in all competitions now for LUFC since his [club-record £30m](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/aug/29/leeds-break-club-transfer-record-to-sign-striker-rodrigo-from-valencia) move from Spain in the summer transfer window, the 29 year-old really needs to step up now over the busy Christmas period and show why such big money was paid for him.
