Football Insider have reported that Leeds United will not make a move for former winger Aaron Lennon this summer, despite the Burnley man being available on a free transfer.
With the Championship season set to return on June 20, Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa can gradually begin to prepare for a tilt at clinching promotion to the Premier League, for which they are on course as leaders of the second tier.
With automatic promotion very much a likely outcome, Bielsa will undoubtedly be keen to strengthen his squad and add some experience to his ranks. However, Football Insider have now seemingly ended potential talk of a move for former winger Lennon.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and England winger is available on a free transfer this season after a two-year spell with Burnley at Turf Moor.
Lennon, who was born in Leeds, began his career with the Whites as a 16-year-old and would have been a good option to return to Elland Road, given his experience of nearly 400 Premier League games and 21 England caps, but it now remains to be seen where he will end up next season and who else Bielsa could bring in to reinforce his squad if they are a top-flight club in 2020/21.
