Leeds United are interested in signing Middlesbrough pair Dael Fry and Marcus Tavernier, according to a fresh transfer rumour which has emerged.

The Lowdown: Fry and Tavernier impressing for Boro

Chris Wilder's side picked up a famous victory away to Manchester United last Friday, knocking them out of the FA Cup on penalties at the fourth round stage.

Both Fry and Tavernier started at Old Trafford, playing their part in the win, and they have been important players throughout this season, making 43 Championship starts between them and helping the Teessiders to push for promotion - they sit outside the play-off places only on goal difference.

A fresh transfer report has confirmed that there is interest in the duo from the Premier League.

The Latest: Leeds want to sign Fry and Tavernier

According to Football League World, Leeds are keen on acquiring Fry and Tavernier, as Marcelo Bielsa looks to bolster his squad later in the year.

It is also stated that Wolves, West Ham United, Burnley, Brighton, Southampton and Brentford are all specifically monitoring Fry's progress.

The Verdict: Good squad additions

While Fry and Tavernier may not necessarily be big-name players operating at the highest level, they could be handy signings by Leeds in the summer.

The former has been a defensive rock for Boro, making 158 appearances for the Championship side, while Tavernier has excelled in midfield, averaging two tackles per game in the league this season. Also, both are rated among their current club's top six performers by WhoScored in 2021/22.

Bielsa has worked his magic with Championship players already, turning the likes of Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling into solid Premier League performers, so there is no reason why he can't do the same again with a prospective swoop for the Middlesbrough duo.
