Leeds United: £12m Argentine youngster Adolfo Gaich emerges as transfer target - Leeds United Transfer Rumours

Argentine youngster Adolfo Gaich has emerged as a transfer target for Leeds United ahead of what is looking increasingly likely to be a return to the Premier League.

The Yorkshire club are eagerly anticipating the return of the Championship season, which has now been given the green light to resume on June 20.

After losing the play-off semi-final last season to Derby County, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have bounced back in style and sit top of the league standings in the automatic promotion places, seven points clear of third place (BBC Sport).

Looking ahead to what is expected to be a Premier League campaign next term, the Argentine coach has already been linked to a number of potential summer signings.

question mark

Who was Leeds United's first £100k transfer signing?

One of those emerging is now Gaich with the 21-year-old impressing for San Lorenzo having netted five goals in 12 appearances this season, whilst also making his first senior appearance for Argentina against Mexico last year.

The young goalscorer has a £12m release clause in his current contract at the club, which will expire in one-year.

Leeds’ Championship title rivals West Bromwich Albion have also been linked with a move for the striker.

Gaich is relatively unknown in European football but due to his rise in Argentina, the youngster is now started to attract interest.

Bielsa’s willingness to hand young players key minutes in the first team and develop them, would seemingly make a signing for the young striker make sense.

If Gaich can go on to become one of Europe’s top striker’s, £12m will be a price well paid.
