Leeds United have confirmed their interest in Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell and Derby County’s Louie Sibley as per a report from talkSPORT.
With the domestic transfer window coming to a close this Friday (16/10), Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa still seems determined to bring in a new midfielder.
The young attack-minded midfielder suffered relegation to the Championship from the Premier League last season but still impressed with six goals and two assists in his 37 top-flight appearances.
Despite the transfer gossip surrounding a potential move to Elland Road, Cantwell posted a cryptic message via his personal Instagram at the weekend to seemingly end the rumours.
That has led to reports linking Leeds with a move for Derby County youngster Sibley, who has been impressing at Pride Park with his performances over the last 12 months, netting five goals and gaining two assists in 11 Championship games last term.
Victor Orta confirms interest but no moves expected until January
As we enter the final few days of the domestic window, Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta has confirmed the club’s interest in Cantwell, whilst talkSPORT also claim that the Yorkshire club wants Sibley too.
However, despite that interest and desire to bring two of English football’s most promising youngster’s to Elland Road, the report goes on to add that any chance of a move for either is looking unlikely, with moves in the January transfer window a more realistic possibility.
If this does prove to be the case, Leeds will seemingly end their summer transfer business having spent just under the £100m mark, bringing in the likes of Rodrigo Moreno and Diego Llorente from Valencia and Real Sociedad, respectively.
Who would be a better signing, Todd Cantwell or Louie Sibley?
Why not sign both? If Bielsa was able to bring in both Cantwell and Sibley, the Argentine would be making a huge statement, considering both have enhanced their reputations as two of the most promising attack-minded midfielders in the English game.
Rest assured, Leeds fans do not have to feel too disappointed if a deal for either does not go through before Friday as Bielsa has certainly impressed with his signings this summer already.
The future looks bright at Leeds, but it could look even brighter come the end of this week…
