The winter transfer window is now open and reports are already linking Leeds United with a move for Ligue 2 midfielder Kouadio Konè.
The latest on Kouadio Konè
According to Calciomercato, Toulouse would be looking for a fee of over €10m (£8.9m) for the midfielder, and Leeds, led by Marcelo Bielsa, had already been in contact over a potential move in the summer. Italian giants AC Milan are also interested.
Would this be a good signing?
The 19 year-old has been a key player for Toulouse this season, playing 17 times (Transfermarkt) – he has picked up one goal along the way. It looks like Leeds are planning for the future with this possible signing – in the summer, RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi said that Leeds and Bielsa had held talks with the player’s agents.
This highlights that it is a player that the Whites have been eyeing for a while. With Kalvin Phillips currently thriving in the role Konè plays, one would have to assume the talented French U19 international is one to develop for the future, rather than someone to immediately improve the first XI.
