The January transfer window is approaching and rumours are intensifying around Leeds’ defensive issues. Fredrik Andre Bjorkan is the latest name linked.
The latest on Fredrik Andre Bjorkan
According to TEAMtalk, the Norway defender is attracting the interest of a number of English sides ahead of the January transfer window. Brighton, Leeds, Newcastle, Bournemouth and Norwich are the interested parties, and so it might not be easy for Leeds to acquire the player.
Would this be a good signing?
The Norwegian is only 22, but in the 2019/20 season he played 29 times in the Eliteserien (Transfermarkt), mostly at left-back. He kept eight clean sheets and also provided an attacking threat, picking up one goal and four assists. His club, FK Bodø/Glimt, only lost once and have drawn mass praise for their record-setting season, something Bjorkan was a big part of.
The league winners scored a sensational 100 goals in 29 games, so he would fit right into the rip-roaring attacking style of play that Marcelo Bielsa wants from his full-backs.
The player also has 12 appearances for the Norway U21 side, so it would definitely be a very interesting signing if Leeds did acquire him. He has an abundance of experience for such a young player, including appearances in the Europa League qualifiers as well.
TEAMtalk also claim that Celtic held talks over Bjorkan in the summer, but they failed to finalise a deal, so it looks like this really is a player who has been identified as a good acquisition by many sides. With Bielsa’s reputation for improving young talent, it could really be a good signing.
