Leeds United are reportedly looking to improve their squad in the January transfer window and they have been linked with a move for striker Christian Kouame.
The latest on Kouame
As reported by Italian newspaper La Nazione, and translated by The Boot Room, Leeds have made an enquiry to sign the forward from Serie A side Fiorentina. The Italian media outlet also report that this would be a signing that manager Marcelo Bielsa approves.
Should Leeds sign the forward?
The 24-year-old currently plays in the Serie A. He has a decent – albeit hardly prolific – record across his career so far as he has 33 goals and 29 assists in 192 appearances (Transfermarkt).
This season hasn’t been great for him, however, as he has only managed one goal in 12 league appearances. The player has clearly been inconsistent throughout this campaign as he has only started in five of these games, which is also perhaps why he could be on the move.
Patrick Bamford has been great for Leeds so far in the Premier League. He has scored ten goals in 16 appearances (WhoScored). The Englishman has also managed 3.6 shots per game.
The club also have Rodrigo, but if they can also bolster the attacking options even further by bringing in Kouame for a decent price, then it would be a good acquisition as the Whites need to find a player to ease the goalscoring burden that’s currently on Bamford.
Kouame is currently valued at £12.6m (Transfermarkt) but in the January window, this price would almost certainly be inflated.
