Leeds United are interested in making a late move for Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman as they search for more defensive cover in the closing stages of the transfer window.
The Whites have already been linked with a potential late loan move for Liverpool’s Yasser Larouci, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side keen to add to their options at left-back, after Barry Douglas has been linked with a potential move to Championship side Watford.
Rahman has now emerged as another potential defender who the Whites could make a move for, with Chelsea not considering the 26-year-old to be in their first-team plans this term, and the Blues could be open to either a loan move or a permanent transfer for the defender, as per Ghana Soccernet.
The Ghanaian has spent time out on loan in the last three seasons with the likes of Bundesliga side Schalke 04, French side Stade Reims and also Mallorca in La Liga. However, the 26-year-old saw his impact limited last term with the Spanish club due to injuries that restricted him to just two league appearances, as per Sofascore.
This one has come out of the blue, but Rahman would not be a bad addition for the Whites to make on deadline day, assuming he would simply be a back-up option behind Stuart Dallas. The left-back only really managed to make an impression on Chelsea’s first-team in his first campaign with the club in 2015/16, but he did register 1.5 interceptions per game and 3.1 tackles per match (via Sofascore).
That shows he has the potential to be a useful asset in the Premier League and if Bielsa could get the best out of him then it would be an astute piece of business. Although, it could be something of a risk given his previous troubles with injury.
