The Argentine tactician has secured several signings this summer, spending just under the £80m mark but that figure is likely to increase with a desire to further bolster his squad options between now and the end of the transfer window.
A superb start to the Premier League campaign has seen the Yorkshire club win two games out of three, following up their successful Championship title win and promotion to England’s top flight last term.
Linked with a number of players over the last few weeks, Bielsa seemingly wants to continue that start by adding extra quality to his side and the Daily Express have now reported that two talented youngsters are on the former Athletic Bilbao coach’s shortlist.
The report follows a failed deal to bring in Michael Cuisance from Bayern Munich, a move that collapsed on Thursday evening due to a failed medical for the French midfielder.
Reportedly on Bielsa’s shortlist are Manchester United winger Daniel James and Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell, with the latter being heavily linked over the last few days.
Leeds have previously been linked to James, having seen a deal come to a halt in January 2019, but it is now claimed that Bielsa wants to make a move for the £17.1m-valued winger who is struggling to find form and game time at Old Trafford.
Cantwell, who suffered relegation to the Championship last term with Norwich, is the second target for Bielsa with reports of late claiming that the midfielder has already agreed personal terms with the Whites.
Performing well on an individual basis last term, grabbing six goals and two assists in his 37 top-flight appearances, the £18m-valued attacking midfielder has previously been tipped to join Leeds by Football Insider.
If Leeds can secure deals for both James and Cantwell, then both Bielsa and the club’s fans should be extremely happy and confident that they are in the Premier League to stay.
Whilst James has found consistent form for United hard to come by, a move to Leeds could give the Welshman a chance to find his feet in the Premier League, whilst Cantwell will be extremely eager to gain a move back to England’s top flight after last season’s disappointment at Carrow Road.
Deadline day looks set to be an exciting time for Leeds fans, who will no doubt be casting an eye at the sutuations surround both James and Cantwell come Monday evening, if they aren’t decided sooner.
