Football Insider have discussed the role of Mateusz Klich will play if Michael Cuisance completes his expected move from Bayern Munich to Leeds United.
As the transfer window enters the final few days for Premier League clubs, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa continues to look to build on his already impressive looking summer deals.
The Argentine tactician has been busy since gaining promotion to England’s top flight and sealing the Championship title, spending just under £80m on players such as Rodrigo Moreno and Diego Llorente.
Cuisance has emerged as a recent potential arrival with Sky Sports reporting that a medical and agreement over a transfer from German giants Bayern Munich is almost complete.
The French under-20 international was left out of Bayern’s 4-1 defeat to Hoffenheim at the weekend, prompting speculation over his future and potential move to Elland Road.
Having joined Bayern in August 2019, the central midfielder has gone on to make 11 first team appearances for the Bavarian side.
With his potential arrival at Leeds, Football Insider have looked at how the likes of Klich, Pablo Hernandez and Tyler Roberts could be affected.
Klich in particular, is discussed with the report going to say that Cuisance may have to fight for a starting place with the 30-year-old Polish ace.
Klich has been a big part of Leeds United for the past few seasons, making 110 appearances to date for the Yorkshire club, helping them seal promotion last term.
It will certainly prove to be an interesting battle in the centre of midfield between Cuisance and Klich but you have to feel that the former will provide back-up and be given time to gain experience at the start of his Leeds career.
Bielsa seems to be getting the balance just right at Leeds at the present time, signing players to cover each area and Cuisance could well go on to become a player as trusted as Klich. For now though, the 30 year-old’s extensive experience under Bielsa surely gives him the edge to keep his place.
Former Bayern player and now sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic once described Cuisance in depth, saying: ‘Michaël’s strengths are in his possession of the football. He has a great technique, a strong left foot and a great mentality’ – and that certainly sounds like a Bielsa player for the future…
