Leeds United winger Raphinha is reportedly impressing six-time champions of Europe Liverpool, and Phil Hay has provided an update on these rumours.
The latest on Raphinha
Writing for the Athletic, Phil Hay said: “Everyone will be watching Raphinha. You can’t make this sort of impact and not have people on your case. But he’s on a longer contract and he would cost a lot of money.”
Leeds need to hold onto the attacker
Earlier this season, Hay waxed lyrical about the Brazilian, tweeting out: ‘Raphinha btw. Seventeen million squids. Bargain.’ It is easy to see why he said this too – in his 16 appearances (three from the bench), the 24-year-old has picked up four goals and four assists (Transfermarkt), a fantastic return for a young player in a new league with a promoted team.
His underlying attacking stats show that he is unlucky not to have more goals too, as he has managed 2.2 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.6 successful dribbles a game (WhoScored).
It’s not just Hay who has praised the winger, as Noel Whelan was impressed after his performance earlier in the season against Villa, saying: “A fantastic performance and Raphinha was on fire. From what we have seen of him so far, he looks a really good signing.”
With all this taken into account, the club need to do everything to hold on to Raphinha as he looks to be a good talent and has the potential to become even better in the near future.
