Leeds United academy prospect Mateusz Bogusz is set to secure a loan move to Spanish second-tier side UD Logrones before the transfer deadline, according to Football Insider.
Bogusz is a player who has attracted a lot of interest throughout the window with the likes of League One Portsmouth, Swindon Town and Gillingham having all been in the running for a temporary move for the 19-year-old. But it appears that Logrones have now won the race for the versatile midfielder.
The Poland under-21 international was thought to be wanting to get out on loan and play regular first-team football this term, after enjoying some impressive performances for the Whites’ youth teams over the past few campaigns.
The midfielder made a single appearance in both the Carabao Cup and the Championship last term, and was in and around the Leeds squad as they secured the Championship title, as per Sofascore. However, Leeds’ promotion to the top-flight means it is unlikely he would get game time with them this campaign.
The Whites have a lot of promising players coming through their academy at the moment and Bogusz could be just one of a few players to leave Elland Road on a temporary basis before the transfer window closes.
Leeds are making the right decision in allowing Bogusz to move away on loan and get some first-team football. However, the destination is perhaps somewhat of a surprise but given Bielsa’s knowledge of Spanish football from his spell at Athletic Bilbao, you would imagine thaat he is confident that Logrones is the right place for the player to develop his game in the Spanish second division.
The 19-year-old will need to take this chance to impress and if he goes on to enjoy a solid season, he could well put himself in Bielsa’s plans for next term. Some players can prefer to stay within their comfort zones and remain with the club’s youth teams but Bogusz appears to be a player driven with a desire to get first-team experience, which is a promising sign.
