Leeds have been heavily linked to Scottish Premiership midfielder Glen Kamara, and his current manager Steven Gerrard is worried about such links.
What Gerrard had to say about Kamara
Speaking via The Scottish Sun following the Gers winning in the Europa League on Thursday night, the Rangers boss said: “I thought Glen Kamara again showed why everybody is talking about him and there’s a lot of fuss about him.
“I thought he was outstanding from start to finish and my advice to the club is to move that situation along as quickly as they can. I think it is a huge achievement and it is thoroughly deserved.”
These comments could be seen in a positive way by Leeds
The 25 year-old has been a key asset for Steven Gerrard this season, playing 20 times in all competitions (WhoScored). In his Europa League appearances, he has proved how crucial he is at breaking up opposition attacks. He has managed 1.8 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game. Clearly, these stats emphasise he would be a very good asset for a Marcelo Bielsa side. Bielsa’s teams are notorious for being hardworking, especially in defence, no matter what position you play in.
Director of Football at Leeds will be keeping an close eye on Kamara following his good performances, and Gerrard’s comments highlight that there is still a possibility that Kamara could leave. The five-word message he has given to the board, ‘move the situation along quickly’, is definitely a positive for Leeds.
This is due to him saying that the club need to act quick to make sure he doesn’t leave. Therefore Leeds should feel somewhat positive that they might be able to acquire the midfielder.
