# Leeds: Whites now ‘most interested’ in Valentin Castellanos

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are ‘most interested’ in signing New York City forward Valentin Castellanos, according to [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/leeds-united-offered-valentin-castellanos-man-city-pass-on-first-option).**

### The Lowdown: Orta and Kinnear spotted in New York

The Whites have been acting quickly when it comes to signings for Jesse Marsch ahead of his first full season in charge.

Leeds have already brought in [Brenden Aaronson](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/29944/brenden-aaronson-to-join-leeds-united) from RB Salzburg and look to be closing in on right-back [Rasmus Kristensen](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-fabrizio-romano-major-rasmus-kristensen-transfer-update/).

Castellanos could now be the club’s next key target, with Victor Orta and Angus Kinnear recently [spotted](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-orta-and-kinnear-spotted-transfer-target/) alongside Leeds director Massimo Marinelli just over five miles from New York City’s Yankee Stadium.

### The Latest: Smith’s post

90min journalist [Chris Smith](https://twitter.com/cjsmith91/status/1532697919073165314?s=21&t=fmk36fJVBQcyVeKdxaVRlg) shared an update regarding Castellanos on Twitter.

He provided a link to his [story](https://www.90min.com/posts/leeds-united-offered-valentin-castellanos-man-city-pass-on-first-option), claiming that the Whites are the ‘[most interested party](https://twitter.com/cjsmith91/status/1532697919073165314?s=21&t=fmk36fJVBQcyVeKdxaVRlg)’ and they do indeed have ‘[club reps](https://twitter.com/cjsmith91/status/1532697919073165314?s=21&t=fmk36fJVBQcyVeKdxaVRlg)’ in the US after Manchester City passed up on their option to bring him from a fellow City Group outfit.

> “Per sources, Man City have passed up their option on New York City FC striker Taty Castellanos, but have recommended him to a number of other EPL clubs.
>
> “Leeds the most interested party, club reps are in USA.”

### The Verdict: Needed

Reinforcements in attack are certainly needed after Patrick Bamford started just [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334) Premier League games last season due to injury.

\[freshpress-quiz id=”398317″\]

Castellanos, described as a [‘quality player’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10306467/West-Ham-tracking-progress-New-York-City-striker-Valentin-Castellanos.html) and even dubbed the [‘new Didier Drogba’](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-castellanos-guardiola-transfer-22460342), appears to be an extremely shrewd target, with the Argentinian contributing to [76 goals in 126 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/valentin-castellanos/leistungsdaten/spieler/522784) for the MLS side.

Still just 23 years of age, Castellanos can also play on [either wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/valentin-castellanos/profil/spieler/522784) and [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/valentin-castellanos/profil/spieler/522784) have a probability of a move to Leeds United at 68%, so this could be one to watch very closely.
