# Leeds: Weston McKennie speaks with Marsch over transfer

**[Leeds](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) transfer target Weston McKennie has spoken with manager Jesse Marsch about a potential [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) move, according to Ben Jacobs.**

### The Lowdown: McKennie linked…

The USA international has been linked with a move to Elland Road this January and [reports have suggested](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-premier-league-weston-mckennie-whites-transfer-news-updates/) that contact has been made over the player’s signature.

Leeds are reportedly chasing the midfielder with talks ongoing with Juventus over a potential deal according to reliable transfer journalists like [Fabrizio Romano.](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1618174586306150400)

The Whites are currently battling for survival and have won none of their last five league matches, highlighting the need for further additions.

### The Latest: Jacobs shares McKennie update…

CBS reporter Jacobs, writing on [Twitter,](https://twitter.com/JacobsBen/status/1618187104584085507) says McKennie is ‘happy’ to join Leeds and has even spoken to Marsch over a possible move.

He explained:

*“Weston McKennie is happy to join #LUFC and has spoken to Jesse Marsch and Tyler Adams. Juventus open to a late window deal, but not at a cut price. Club deny they’ll be forced to offload players following their 15-point deduction, an expected response given they are appealing.”*

### The Verdict: Promising…

This comes as a promising update for supporters given McKennie’s versatility, quality and possible ability to upgrade Marsch’s options in midfield.

The 24-year-old is able to [play](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/332697) across the midfield and even at centre-back – providing many scopes for Leeds to utilise the American in their dogfight.

Called a ‘[rock’](https://acefootball.com/football-news/pirlo-praises-rock-mckennie-for-playing-through-pain-for-juventus/) by Andrea Pirlo and [‘incredibly underrated’](https://twitter.com/FTalentScout/status/1346932257509040128) by football talent scouts, McKennie played a [starring role](https://twitter.com/BFordLancer48/status/1599090842605494272) for the USA during their 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar,

The former Schalke star even[‘caught the eye’](https://twitter.com/Matt_Law_DT/status/1596252116305252386) against England in the group stage, and while Juve are open to selling, their loss could well be Leeds’ gain.

Still young and able to provide a sense of longevity with his signing, securing a deal for McKennie before January 31 should be a real priority for Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta.
