# Leeds: Whites agree Cody Gakpo personal terms

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are set to beat Manchester United to the signing of PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo, [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-cody-gakpo-transfer-28187355) report.**

### The Lowdown: Summer interest

The Whites were linked with a move for Gakpo over the summer and really firmed up their interest in the final days of the window.

Victor Orta even flew out to the [Netherlands](https://twitter.com/RikElfrink/status/1565226248556761088) on deadline day looking to finalise a transfer, but as we now know, a deal never went through.

The club are still looking to bring the forward to Yorkshire in [January](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1565254474939211776), though, and it looks as if they are on the right track to do just that.

### The Latest: Personal terms agreed

[The Mirror’s Simon Mullock](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-cody-gakpo-transfer-28187355) provided a transfer update regarding Gakpo on Saturday. He stated that Leeds have agreed personal terms with the player and are looking to agree on a fee with PSV.

The report claimed that Leeds are set to beat Manchester United to Gakpo’s services in what is a ‘crushing blow’ for Erik ten Hag’s side.

### The Verdict: Huge

Gakpo, hailed as a ‘[sensational player](https://twitter.com/MichaelJBell09/status/1523379440171974656)‘ by Football Oranje editor and Dutch football expert Michael Bell, has been in outstanding form this season.

The 23-year-old has contributed to [22](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cody-gakpo/leistungsdaten/spieler/434675) goals in just [15](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cody-gakpo/leistungsdaten/spieler/434675) appearances on the left-wing, taking the captain’s armband in recent months.

He appears to be a huge talent and is already starring at a high level for [club and country](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cody-gakpo/leistungsdaten/spieler/434675), so it could be a major coup for Orta to get a deal over the line.

It looks as if there could be a real chance of a transfer going through in the coming months, which may well give everyone at Elland Road a big lift for the second half of the season.
