# Leeds: Whites eye up move for Matheus Cunha

**Leeds United are interested in signing Hertha Berlin forward Matheus Cunha this summer, in what could be an exciting piece of business.**

### The Lowdown: Bielsa keen on reinforcements

Marcelo Bielsa has built a strong squad at Elland Road, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon ahead of next season.

Leeds may aim to bring in a left-back, central midfielder and attacking player, in order to improve both the quality and depth at the manager’s disposal, with [Paul Robinson claiming recently](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-transfer-rumours/leeds-paul-robinson-expecting-numerous-new-signings/) the boss could bring five new faces through this door this summer.

### The Latest: Cunha linked again

One player who has been [tipped](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-transfer-rumours/leeds-whites-receive-big-matheus-cunha-boost/) to join Leeds is Cunha, who made a total of [27 appearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/362758/Show/Matheus-Cunha) for Hertha in the Bundesliga in 2020/21.

There has now been a fresh update on the 22-year-old, with [*Bild*](https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fussball/neuer-wirbel-um-cunha-hertha-star-soll-wechsel-freigabe-haben-76519086.bild.html) \[via [*Sport Witness*](https://sportwitness.co.uk/leeds-already-expressed-interest-in-versatile-forward-player-received-approval-from-club-for-summer-transfer/)\] claiming that Leeds remain interested and that Hertha would likely accept a €40milion (£34.5m) bid.

Napoli, Monaco and Atalanta are also mentioned as potential suitors.

### The Verdict: Exciting creative option

Cunha would be an exciting signing for Leeds, with the Brazilian averaging [three dribbles per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/362758/Show/Matheus-Cunha) in the league this season – [Raphinha (1.9)](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/19/Show/England-Leeds) averaged the most for the Whites in the Premier League in 2020/21.

That proves that he is a player who makes thing happen on the ball, while [eight goals and four assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/362758/Show/Matheus-Cunha), in all competitions, highlight his end product.

Granted, Cunha would cost a lot of money, but if Leeds are to go up another level, they need to be spending big on top-quality talent, and the prospect of having him and Raphinha on opposite wings is quite something.
