# Leeds: Whites eyeing shock Che Adams move

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are eyeing a surprise move for Southampton forward Che Adams, according to [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/19374024/leeds-che-adams-transfer-southampton/).**

### The Lowdown: 2020 links

Just as they were in January 2020, the Whites are in pursuit of a new forward to provide competition for Patrick Bamford.

Adams, who was hailed as [‘fantastic’](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/18264043.southampton-manager-ralph-hasenhuttl-praises-che-adams/) by his manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, was [wanted](https://twitter.com/philhay_/status/1216997493612982274) at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa two years ago after Eddie Nketiah returned to Arsenal.

As we know, a move failed to materialise, although it looks as if Leeds could now go back in for the Scotland international in what [Alan Nixon](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/19374024/leeds-che-adams-transfer-southampton/) has described as a ‘shock move’.

### The Latest: Nixon’s update

Nixon shared a story within the last 24 hours for [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/19374024/leeds-che-adams-transfer-southampton/) regarding Leeds and Adams.

He claimed that the Whites are lining up a move and would like to do business for £10m after Southampton bolstered their attacking ranks by bringing in Sekou Mara from Bordeaux.

### The Verdict: Surprising

We thought the ship had sailed when it came to Leeds and Adams, but it looks as if he could eventually be heading to Yorkshire after all.

The 26-year-old is valued at £16.2m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/profil/spieler/346779) and is into the final [two years](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/profil/spieler/346779) of his Saints contract, so a £10m fee could be a shrewd piece of prospective business by Victor Orta.

\[freshpress-poll id=”404545″\]

He has scored [80](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdaten/spieler/346779) goals throughout his club and international career, [20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdaten/spieler/346779) of which have come in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) from [96](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdaten/spieler/346779) appearances.

Therefore, he could be just the type of forward that the Whites need as competition for Bamford and Joe Gelhardt for the upcoming season, so this could be one to watch closely.
