# Leeds: Whites have watched Daryl Dike

**Leeds United have watched American forward Daryl Dike closely, according to a report from [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-premier-league-giants-track-barnsley-striker-daryl-dike).**

The [story](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-premier-league-giants-track-barnsley-striker-daryl-dike) claims that Dike, currently on loan at Barnsley from Major League Soccer side Orlando City, has also been monitored by Everton, Newcastle, West Ham and Wolves.

### Chelsea and Manchester United also keen

Barnsley have the [option](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-premier-league-giants-track-barnsley-striker-daryl-dike) to make Dike’s move to Oakwell permanent in the summer, however, it would cost the Tykes £17m – a deal that appears to hinge on the club’s push for promotion to the top flight.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also impressed by the 20-year-old, who has netted [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/leistungsdaten/spieler/638741) Championship goals in just [715 minutes of second-tier action](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/leistungsdaten/spieler/638741).

### Transfer Tavern take

Leeds have an impressive record of securing some talented attacking youngsters in recent years.

Winger Ian Poveda [has been in and around Marcelo Bielsa’s matchday squad this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ian-poveda/leistungsdaten/spieler/392763) after joining from [Manchester City last January](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51244686).

The Whites also added forward [Joe Gelhardt over the summer from Wigan](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53727762), with the youngster the [top scorer in Premier League 2 Division 2 with 11 goals](https://fbref.com/en/comps/853/Premier-League-2----Division-2-Stats).

Sam Greenwood was another [summer addition from Arsenal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-greenwood/transfers/spieler/532178), with the 19-year-old [scoring eight goals in 15 Premier League 2 fixtures](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-greenwood/leistungsdaten/spieler/532178).

Dike, on [£4,400-a-week](https://salarysport.com/football/major-league-soccer/orlando-city/), would cost a lot more than the [£900,000 fee Leeds paid for Gelhardt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gelhardt/transfers/spieler/503980) and the [£1.53m for Greenwood](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-greenwood/transfers/spieler/532178), but it seems as if the American has the talent to thrive at the top level, given the amount of recent Premier League interest.
