# Leeds: Whites interested in Alfonso Pedraza

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are thought to be ‘interested’ in signing Villarreal left-back Alfonso Pedraza.**

### The Lowdown: Wober links

The Whites appear to be on the hunt for a new left-back in the New Year and seem to have an eye on RB Salzburg’s Maximilian Wober.

[Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1607776899471646722) has claimed that Leeds are preparing an offer for the 24-year-old, who can [play](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/maximilian-wober/profil/spieler/263361) as a centre-back or as a left-back. It seems as if Wober isn’t the only defensive target, though, with links emerging to a former Elland Road loanee.

### The Latest: Pedraza news

According to [Football Espana](https://twitter.com/footballespana_/status/1607372786233638913?s=46&t=U01gepJpKAVZw1CjFY4PCg) on Twitter, both Leeds and Inter Milan are ‘interested’ in signing Pedraza in January.

They add that the Spaniard has been a ‘standout’ for the La Liga side over the last 18 months.

### The Verdict: One to watch?

Pedraza, who [played alongside](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfonso-pedraza/gemeinsameSpiele/spieler/356197/plus/0/galerie/0?gegner=0&kriterium=2&wettbewerb=&liga=&verein=399&pos=&status=0) Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas during his loan spell in the 2016/17 season, can also operate as a [left-midfielder or left-winger](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfonso-pedraza/profil/spieler/356197) and has scored [23](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfonso-pedraza/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/356197) senior goals at club level.

Therefore, you could make an argument that both Pedraza and Wober could be of use to [Jesse Marsch](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jesse-marsch/). They would both be able to challenge Pascal Struijk and Junior Firpo at left-back, while also providing cover in other areas, so a move for Pedraza, described as a “[machine](https://twitter.com/simonhfootball/status/955043637716504578)” by Simon Harrison, could be one to watch.
