# Leeds: Whites linked with Daryl Dike move in January

**Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Orlando City striker Daryl Dike in the [January transfer window](https://www.givemesport.com/1754870-january-transfer-window-2022-when-does-it-open-when-does-it-close-and-which-players-are-going-to-move), as they eye up attacking reinforcements.**

### The Lowdown: Dike impresses in England

The 21-year-old American has taken the MLS by storm, [scoring 19 goals in 41 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/alletore/spieler/638741) for Orlando, also chipping in with four assists.

For those unimpressed due to the MLS’ status as a lower-tier league however, Dike spent last season on loan at Championship side Barnsley, finding the net [nine times in 22 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/alletore/spieler/638741), showing he can perform in English football.

With Leeds badly in need of attacking firepower currently, Dike has emerged as a potential January target.

### The Verdict: Exciting long-term addition

Dike may not be the finished article yet but he looks like a hugely exciting young player who could strengthen Leeds’ squad depth in the attacking third.

He has been [hailed](https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/daryl-dikes-winning-goal-was-unbelievable-says-barnsley-fc-chief-valerien-ismael-after-birmingham-city-success-3157048) as ‘unbelievable’ by former Barnsley and current West Brom manager Valerien Ismael, and is someone who would provide competition for Patrick Bamford with a different style of play – Dike is a 6 foot 2 colossus whose biggest strength is his finishing ability in the air ([Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/396063/Show/Daryl-Dike)).

Bamford has been plagued by [injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/verletzungen/spieler/183334) this season and may not be at his best upon his return, so Dike could come in and ease that potential issue, representing a long-term signing at just 21 years of age but also an immediate injection of quality.
