# Leeds: Whites readying Momo Mbaye move

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are thought to be ready to make a move for Cadiz CF defender Momo Mbaye.**

### The Lowdown: Mbaye linked with Leeds

The Whites were first linked with a move for the 24-year-old at the end of October. [Reports](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-premier-league-momo-mbaye-transfer-news-updates/) suggested that Leeds were closely following the Senegalese centre-back alongside Brighton and Southampton.

Hailed as a [‘class act’](https://twitter.com/DazColz/status/1568650107066945537) by Darragh Collins, Mbaye has made just [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/momo-mbaye/leistungsdaten/spieler/490421) senior appearances for his current employers, but it seems as if Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani are ready to pounce.

### The Latest: Mbaye transfer update

[Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/4-pl-clubs-interested-in-signing-la-liga-man-in-january-transfer-well-considered-by-club/) relayed an [update](https://wiwsport.com/2022/11/08/cadiz-quatre-equipes-de-premier-league-sinteressent-a-mamadou-mbaye/) regarding the defender on Wednesday, in which Leeds were once again name-checked.

They claimed that Wolves have joined the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) trio in the race for Mbaye, adding that all four English suitors would be ready to move in order to secure the 24-year-old’s services in January.

### The Verdict: Not a priority…

Jesse Marsch currently has [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399) senior centre-backs at his disposal and that includes [Pascal Struijk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pascal-struijk/leistungsdaten/spieler/410708), who has mainly filled in for Junior Firpo at left-back so far this season.

Patrick Bamford has also had his [injury issues](https://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiVrce3h6H7AhURQ8AKHbsLCjQQFnoECDwQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.leeds-live.co.uk%2Fsport%2Fleeds-united%2Fleeds-uniteds-jesse-marsch-provides-25445503&usg=AOvVaw24Wv3WEagwR5aXe0kXCSoq) this season, so if Leeds are to add to their squad in January, perhaps a new left-back and centre-forward should be higher up on the list than another centre-back.

Mbaye doesn’t have [much senior experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/momo-mbaye/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/490421) either, so there’s no guarantee that he would be an upgrade on Marsch’s current options at the back.
