# Leeds: Whites set to agree personal terms with Bamba Dieng

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are set to agree on personal terms with Marseille forward Bamba Dieng, according to [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1565290739201744896).**

### The Lowdown: Gakpo news

Dieng will actually be the second player the club have agreed terms with today.

The Whites appear to be desperate to land a new forward before tonight’s deadline and wanted to sign PSV’s Cody Gakpo.

Victor Orta even [flew out](https://twitter.com/RikElfrink/status/1565220691342917632) to the Netherlands on Wednesday evening looking to bring the forward back to Yorkshire on deadline day.

However, the Leeds chief returned on his [own](https://twitter.com/RikElfrink/status/1565220691342917632) with Gakpo remaining at PSV, despite [Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1565254474939211776) confirming that the Whites ‘agreed’ a move with the player himself.

### The Latest: Dieng deal

[Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1565290739201744896) provided a fresh transfer update from Elland Road at lunchtime, revealing that Leeds are ‘closing’ in on Dieng.

The transfer expert said it would be a permanent transfer and not a loan, adding Dieng ‘is now set to agree personal terms and join Leeds’.

[Andrea Radrizzani](https://twitter.com/andrearadri/status/1565321567101505538?s=20&t=04NYhGQyFbxjd2MVOSWMNA) appears to have all but confirmed the deal on Twitter, also implying they will still continue their pursuit of Gakpo.

### The Verdict: Fingers crossed

It looks as if Leeds are progressing well with a move for the Senegal international, but as we know, anything can happen on deadline day.

\[freshpress-poll id=”408218″\]

Should he join, Dieng will provide Jesse Marsch with a much-needed option as a centre-forward, while also being able to play out wide. \[[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bamba-dieng/profil/spieler/822458)\]

The 22-year-old scored [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bamba-dieng/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/822458) times and registered [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bamba-dieng/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/822458) assists in [25](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bamba-dieng/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/822458) Ligue 1 games last season, and if he can replicate that form in the Premier League, it could be key to Leeds avoiding flirting with the bottom three.
