# Leeds: Whites still plotting Brenden Aaronson deal

**Leeds United are still plotting a summer move for RB Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson, according to an update from journalist Phil Hay.**

### The Lowdown: Leeds miss out on January move

The Whites seemingly spent the whole of January [trying to acquire](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-transfer-rumours/leeds-whites-could-yet-seal-last-gasp-signing-of-brenden-aaronson/) the 21-year-old’s signature but he ended up remaining at Salzburg for the rest of the season.

Aaronson has stood out as a key man for his current team in 2021/22, [starting all six](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/371012/Show/Brenden-Aaronson) Champions League group stage matches and helping them reach the knockout rounds, which no doubt is what made it difficult for Leeds to get a deal done.

Victor Orta may return for the American in the summer transfer window, however, and a fresh update has emerged regarding the situation.

### The Latest: Interest still remains

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1489509100337696769?s=20&t=4LTyzC_djXrdLtsrMiPg4A) on Friday, Hay confirmed that the Whites are still keen on getting their man, as Orta looks to work his magic once the season ends:

### The Verdict: No-brainer for Whites

Aaronson looks like a great young talent with a big future in the game, so Leeds remaining interested in him is encouraging news.

The midfielder has been [compared](https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-united/brenden-aaronson-price-tag-emerges-transfer-issue-emerges-victor-orta-preps-second-leeds-bid) to Chelsea’s on-loan star and past Whites target Conor Gallagher in terms of style, with the Englishman [scoring seven goals and registering three assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/375621/Show/Conor-Gallagher) for Crystal Palace this season.

The hope is of course that Aaronson could have a similar impact at Leeds, thriving in a [No.10 role](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/371012/Show/Brenden-Aaronson) for Salzburg and bringing an extra dimension in the middle of the park.

[FBRef.com](https://fbref.com/en/players/5bc43860/Brenden-Aaronson#all_scout) put the player in the 99th percentile in Europe for pressures per 90 with a remarkable 27.84 each match, so it’s no surprise Leeds see him as someone who would fit their high-intensity style under Marcelo Bielsa like a glove.
