# Leicester aiming to smash transfer record to land excellent striker

![ranieriranierims](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/ranieriranierims-500x366.jpg)The Leicester City fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern discussing reports that the club could be set to smash their transfer record this summer.

[The Guardian is reporting](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/10/leicester-city-transfer-record-signing-lucas-perez-deportivo-la-coruna) that the Premier League champions are keen to add Deportiva La Coruna striker Lucas Perez to their ranks for next summer.

Perez is a highly rated striker and second only to the big name strikers at Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the scoring charts this season.

It is set to be a summer of extensive recruitment at the King Power Stadium this summer following a season of success, which means a bigger squad will be required to maintain standards set this season with added Champions League games entering the schedule for next season.

It [would take a club record bid from Leicester](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/10/leicester-city-transfer-record-signing-lucas-perez-deportivo-la-coruna) to tempt Deportivo to sell their leading scorer and it could also be a wrench for Perez, who is currently with his hometown club.

The Leicester fans in The Tavern are hopeful a deal can be concluded to bring Perez to the club this summer and look forward to other additions over the coming months.
