An own goal from Latic debutant Tom Pearce opened the scoring after just 19 minutes after he steered the ball past team-mate David Marshall in between the sticks.

Barnes has been receiving plenty of [criticism](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/leicester/leicester-fans-rip-into-harvey-barnes-after-draw-against-norwich/) from segments of the King Power Stadium faithful this season but proved his critics wrong against the Lancashire based-outfit.

He managed to get three shots on target, completed two key passes and accumulated a pass success rate of 75%, according to [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/wigan-athletic-leicester-city/GsZ).

Supporters were pleased for Barnes after getting on the scoresheet and made their feelings clear on social media.

> Wigan unlucky but clearly [#lcfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/lcfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) deserved the win. Barnes getting a goal and looking lively was a needed confidence boost for him; injuries obviously a blow. Hamza is definitely growing as a player. Looks so at home out there, better on the ball than many might think. [#lcfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/lcfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) 🏆 [pic.twitter.com/9ZouDN8ddZ](https://t.co/9ZouDN8ddZ)
