# Leicester City: Foxes face battle with Arsenal to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard

**According to [FourFourTwo](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/leicester-city-chasing-more-signings-after-securing-ben-chilwell-replacement), Leicester City could be considering a move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this summer to bolster their attacking options – but they may face stiff competition from Arsenal who are also eyeing a move.**

Club legend Jamie Vardy won the Premier League golden boot for the Foxes last season, but at 33-years-old, manager Brendan Rodgers and co may need to weigh up future options if they’re to stay in-and-around the European spots.

As the 2020/2021 Premier League campaign looms, clubs up and down the country are doing business, with Arsenal now prioritising Edouard as an attacking target after securing Gabriel Magalhaes for a fee worth £23.14 million ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53990363#:~:text=Arsenal%20have%20completed%20the%20signing,on%20a%20long%2Dterm%20contract.)).

However, as Leicester start planning for life without Vardy in future seasons, Edouard could emerge as a possible target – especially given his impressive goal return in the SPFL.

According to[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152), the Frenchman bagged a head-turning 21 goals in all competitions over 2019/2020 – leaving little wonder why Celtic are reluctant to let him go without a huge price tag.

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-massive-update-on-edouard-future-at-celtic/) reported back in July that the Hoops had slapped a £40 million price tag on the ‘[incredible](https://www.celticfc.net/news/17445)‘ forward – something which may turn Leicester off amid possible financial concerns due to a global pandemic.

So far, Leicester look to have [nailed down the signing](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11712/12061773/timothy-castagne-atalanta-defender-passes-leicester-medical) of Atalanta defender Timothy Castagne, but Ben Chilwell’s departure means he will have a massive hole to fill.

At the other end in attack, if the Foxes could land a sensational move for Edouard, requiring a fee which would [equal their transfer record](https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-citys-record-transfer-fees-3069669#:~:text=Leicester%20City%20have%20broken%20their,on%20a%20four%2Dyear%20deal.), then Rodgers’ side should be in good stead to remain at the top end of the table.
