Leicester City have ‘spoken internally’ about signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Leicester City have ‘spoken internally’ about signing Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
The Lowdown: Loftus-Cheek on the move?
Loftus-Cheek has featured fairly regularly for Chelsea this season, making 15 appearances in the Premier League, however that has not stopped him from being linked with moves elsewhere.
Newcastle United were interested in a January move for the midfielder, as were former club Crystal Palace, with CBS reporter Ben Jacobs at one point detailing that there was a ‘strong possibility’ for him to leave the club. (via Chelsea Chronicle)
The Latest: Leicester interested
While a move did not transpire in the January market, one could still be possible in the summer, and Phillips has named Brendan Rodgers’ side as potential suitors in a recent interview with GiveMeSport.
The journalist said: “He has got clubs interested in him now and Leicester City are one of them.
“They’ve spoken internally about interest in Loftus-Cheek, so I could see them coming in for him in the summer, among other clubs. I don’t think Loftus-Cheek will stay. I think Chelsea will let him go in the summer.”
The Verdict: Get it done?
With Youri Tielemans showing no signs of wanting to extend his contract beyond the end of the season, Leicester will need a new option in the engine room, and the Englishman would be a very good addition to the squad.
Lauded as ‘fantastic’ by members of the media, a key feature of the central midfielder’s game is his ability to bring the ball forward, ranking in the 98th percentile for successful take-ons per 90 in the past year, averaging 1.84.
After Enzo Fernandez was signed by Chelsea for £106.8m, it may be time for the Blues to move some midfielders on, and Rodgers should no doubt look to capitalise by bringing in Loftus-Cheek, as he is a proven Premier League player and at 27-years-old is only now entering his prime.
