Leicester have been linked with a move for Burnley defender James Tarkowski, although they aren't the only interested party.

According to The Mirror, the Foxes are eager to bring the the 27-year-old to the King Power Stadium next season after failing to sign him last summer. Crystal Palace are also on the hunt for a new centre-back, though, and Tarkowski has been identified as a summer target for Roy Hodgson.

The two clubs are looking to bolster their defence this summer and the Burnley man is an ideal target. For Leicester especially, they could be looking at a strong partner to team up with Caglar Soyuncu, who has been lauded for his efforts this season.

In this Premier League campaign, Tarkowski has been ever-present in Sean Dyche's line-up. He has also contributed one goal and one assist, on track to match his three-goal tally from last season (via Transfermarkt).

According to The Mirror's report, the England international has racked up the most headed clearances out of any other player this term. Tarkowski also boasts an average of 5.1 clearances per game as well as 2.7 accurate long balls. He has helped Burnley keep 11 clean sheets in the league so far this term (via WhoScored).

The Clarets won't want to lose Tarkowski, but a man of his calibre should flourish in a side like Leicester's. Under Brendan Rodgers, the Foxes have their sights locked on Champions League football and have been battling Manchester City for second place in the league table.

Leicester have been linked to some exciting transfer targets ahead of the summer window and they will want to build on their already impressive team. After losing Harry Maguire to Manchester United, Rodgers will be looking to create another solid centre-back partnership, which could be found between Soyuncu and Tarkowski.

The Turkish defender is as strong across the backline as he is going forward after he registered the fastest sprint speed in the league earlier this year (via talkSPORT). Tarkowski's stats prove he also operates in a similar way and could complement Soyuncu well at the heart of the defence.
