Brentford’s Said Benrahma has attracted a lot of Premier League attention this season as a summer exit could be on the cards.
According to the Daily Express, Leicester are leading the line when it comes to suitors for the Algeria international. However, in order to secure a deal, they must fend off fellow top flight clubs Chelsea and Arsenal, who are also keen on acquiring his services.
Should Leicester sign Brentford's Said Benrahma?
Brendan Rodgers is scanning the market for options to bolster his attack ahead of next season. As it stands, Leicester are third in the Premier League table but breathing down the necks of second-placed Manchester City. There are just four points separating the two sides and the Foxes will want to take this momentum into the coming weeks.
Benrahma has deservedly attracted a lot of attention after the season he has had with Brentford. The winger is the club’s third highest scorer this campaign, tallying an impressive 10 goals and eight assists from the wide position (via Transfermarkt).
The Bees have had a strong run in the Championship, currently sitting fourth in the table. If they continue their positive streak, they will be fighting for the third promotion spot at the end of the season. However, if they aren’t successful in the play-offs, they could risk losing high-quality players like Benrahma to the Premier League.
Although the Foxes are higher up the table than both Arsenal and Chelsea, the Algerian winger could view the London clubs as better for his growth. In order to snub either capital team from getting their hands on him, Leicester must come in with a good offer.
According to the Daily Express, Brentford would be looking for about £25m to let Benrahma leave, which isn’t too high a price to meet. As it stands, Rodgers’ side will qualify for the Champions League next season, which will be a huge bargaining chip in their attempt to lure in the 24-year-old.
There’s no doubt that Benrahma looks set for top-flight football, but the burning question is which team he will pick as his next big career move.
