Leicester are set to reignite their interest in Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor as they hope to bounce back from their Ben Chilwell loss.

The Foxes recently took a huge blow after losing England international Chilwell to Premier League rivals Chelsea. However, the handsome £50 million pocketed from the sale will undoubtedly help them bolster their remaining squad.

The recruitment could start with Brendan Rodgers raiding his former club.

According to Football Insider, Leicester have returned to earmarked transfer target McGregor in hopes of striking a deal this summer. The report claims that a £20 million offer is being prepared for the midfield man, who Rodgers missed out on signing last year.

After joining the Midlands outfit from the Premiership champions, the Irishman tried to sign McGregor last summer. However, Celtic knocked back any advances on the 27-year-old.

Now, armed with a hefty wad of cash, Leicester want to complete unfinished business and bring the Scotland international to the Premier League.

The Foxes narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot last season despite a strong start to the term. Rodgers will want to build on his side's dip in form and ensure more goal-scoring opportunities are being created.

Bolstering his midfield could be a priority and the ideal signing would be someone he can trust. After working with McGregor previously in Scotland, the 27-year-old could be the answer to Leicester's problems in the middle of the park.

The player is currently valued at just £5.4m, so Leicester's £20m offer is more than 270% of what McGregor is worth. Celtic certainly have a decision to make regarding their midfielder.
