# Leeds: Phil Hay makes Leif Davis claim

**Jesse Marsch is in two minds about keeping [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) left-back Leif Davis at Elland Road, according to [Phil Hay](https://theathletic.com/3425376/2022/07/16/leeds-de-ketelaere-kalimuendo-raphinha/).**

### The Lowdown: Davis in Australia

Davis, who Scott Parker labelled [‘brilliant’](https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/19514863.scott-parker-hails-brilliant-leif-daviss-first-appearance-cherries/) during his loan spell with Bournemouth last season, was selected in a [26-man](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/30067/australia-squad-list-confirmed) squad to travel to Australia for the Whites’ pre-season tour following Junior Firpo’s latest [injury](https://twitter.com/apopey/status/1547107608703733766).

The 22-year-old has featured in both friendlies against Brisbane Roar and Aston Villa, with Marsch starting the left-back against their fellow [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) side.

Davis is into the final [12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leif-davis/profil/spieler/596446) of his Elland Road contract, and it looks as if his future is still undecided with the new season fast approaching.

### The Latest: Hay’s claim on Davis

Writing in a story for [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3425376/2022/07/16/leeds-de-ketelaere-kalimuendo-raphinha/) on Saturday, Hay touched on Davis’ situation.

The reliable reporter said that there is an offer on the table from League One side Ipswich Town for the full-back, with Marsch in ‘two minds about whether to keep him close’.

### The Verdict: New left-back required

Davis has only played [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leif-davis/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/596446) senior matches for Leeds, the same amount as he has for the [under-23s](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leif-davis/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/596446), so it could be a risk heading into the new campaign with him as the [only available left-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/startseite/verein/399) in the first-team squad.

\[freshpress-poll id=”402181″\]

Firpo and [Stuart Dallas](https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/international/stuart-dallas-set-to-be-out-for-up-to-six-months-as-leeds-boss-jesse-marsch-confirms-surgery-was-a-success-41621365.html) are both sidelined for the foreseeable future, and although the likes of [Pascal Struijk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pascal-struijk/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/410708), [Leo Hjelde](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leo-fuhr-hjelde/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/661208) and [Jack Harrison](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-harrison/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/417346) – who has also been [linked](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11021125/Leeds-slap-35m-price-tag-Jack-Harrison-amid-Newcastle.html) with an exit from Elland Road – can fill in if needed, it could be wise to sign a new left-back and allow Davis to move on.

Only time will tell what Leeds and Marsch decide to do, but [it looks as if](https://theathletic.com/3425376/2022/07/16/leeds-de-ketelaere-kalimuendo-raphinha/) their immediate focus is on a new forward following Raphinha’s move to Barcelona.
