# Arsenal: Gunners plotting Levi Colwill move

**[Arsenal](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/arsenal-fc-news/) are reportedly plotting a summer move for Chelsea central defender Levi Colwill, who is currently on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion.**

### The Lowdown: Impressive season

Colwill is enjoying an impressive season at Brighton, where he had started [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/levi-colwill/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/614258/plus/0?saison=&verein=1237&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) games in a row for them before picking up a nasty injury.

Brighton are currently pushing for European qualification, and the 20-year-old has played his part in that.

### The Latest: Arsenal plotting move

As per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-liverpool-coaches-seriously-impressed-by-levi-colwill-as-they-join-race-to-sign-him/), Arsenal are ‘monitoring’ Colwill’s progress at the Seagulls, and are plotting a move for him when he returns to Stamford Bridge.

They are in the market for a left-sided defender and believe Colwill, who can play as a left-sided centre-back, on the left of a back three or at left-back, fits the bill.

However, they will face competition from fellow top-flight rivals Liverpool for his signature.

### The Verdict: Where does that leave Kiwior?

The Gunners signed another left-sided defender in Jakub Kiwior in the January transfer window, but he is [yet](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jakub-kiwior/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/425918/plus/0?saison=&verein=11&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) to make a first-team appearance.

With Gabriel Magalhaes already at the club, it seems strange for them to go for Colwill as well, unless they are thinking more about left-back cover instead, with Kieran Tierney [linked](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-aston-villa-join-race-for-arsenal-star-kieran-tierney-in-30m-plus-move/) with an exit.

Hailed as a ‘[Rolls Royce](https://twitter.com/ChelseaLoanArmy/status/1512395726269071360)‘ by pundit Anton Ferdinand, Colwill would be an exciting addition, and the North Londoners have history of signing players from Chelsea, with the Jorginho the latest on a list that includes the likes of Petr Cech, David Luiz and Willian.
