# Liverpool: Fans fume at Mohamed Salah’s Ballon d’Or ranking

**A number of Liverpool supporters are furious that Mohamed Salah only finished seventh in the Ballon d’Or voting on Monday evening.**

The 29-year-old has arguably been the greatest player of the Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield, producing [world-class brilliance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ68OskGqow) on a consistent basis.

This season, Salah has been as good as ever, [scoring 17 goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/108226/Show/Mohamed-Salah) already and being called the [world’s best player](https://www.goal.com/en/news/is-salah-best-player-in-the-world-now/uaku1p1chwmz16r6mbqd9ni68) by some.

From a Liverpool perspective, there was hope that the Egyptian superstar could scoop the prestigious Ballon d’Or on Monday following a memorable year.

As relayed by the club’s [official Twitter channel](https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1465419903708676101?s=20), though, Salah could only finish seventh in the voting, somehow finishing behind [sixth-placed](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12482546/lionel-messi-wins-record-seventh-mens-ballon-dor) Cristiano Ronaldo. The Liverpool star has [18 goal contributions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/leistungsdaten/spieler/148455) in the Premier League already this term compared to the Manchester United forward’s [six](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/5583/Show/Cristiano-Ronaldo), along with netting [15 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/alletore/spieler/148455/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&minute=&pos=&torart=&stand=) from January to May 2021.

It was Lionel Messi who [scooped his seventh Ballon D’Or](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12482546/lionel-messi-wins-record-seventh-mens-ballon-dor) and the hope is that Salah can take it home this time next year.
