Beckham targets world superstar for new MLS franchise

IbrahimovicMany fans in the Transfer Tavern have been keeping a close eye on David Beckham’s upcoming MLS franchise and have been stunned by the latest rumours filtering out today.

The Daily Mail suggest Goldenballs is targeting a lucrative first signing for his Miami side in the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a player he was team-mates with during spells at AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

Swedish superstar Ibrahimovic has is future up in the air currently, with his contract at PSG expiring at the end of the season and it being likely that the Ligue 1 side’s record-scorer will call time in his stint in the French capital.

Ibrahimovic previously stated he’d love to play in the United States in the future, which could coincide nicely with Beckham’s side inaugural MLS season; planned to occur in 2018.

‘I would like to play in US, absolutely. I think it would be an amazing experience. I see that soccer is growing a lot in US I mean, I was here 10 years ago [and] soccer was not on the level that it is today, but it’s growing.’

Should Ibrahimovic leave he is likely to attract a wealth of attention, with former club AC Milan and Swedish outfit Malmo probably keen on bringing him to their shores.
