Centre back Pape Diakhate, who was linked with a move to clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea, Portsmouth, Juventus and Bayern Munich prior to his move to current club Dinamo Kiev, is reportedly looking to leave the Ukrainian club and is being offered an escape route back to France from Nice according to L’Equipe.
The Senegal international was a regular for fellow French side Nancy ahead of his move to Dinamo and was highly impressive in France, being named in the French division’s team of the year back in 2004 bur he made the shock move to Ukraine in 2007 despite reported interest from a host of big clubs.
But now, after two relatively successful years with the Ukrainian giants where he managed to become club captain for a while, Diakhate is looking to leave the club after a fallout with manager Valeri Gazzaev regarding a place in the squad to play Barcelona earlier this week. Diakhate’s agent revealed
“I know that French clubs have made contact with Dinamo but I don’t know which.”
L’Equipe are reporting that the club leading the chase is Nice who currently sit 14th in Ligue 1 as the club have conceded 25 goals in just 15 league games and Diakhate’s signing would surely prove a big boost to their defence.
