The recent progression into the Champions League proper has absolutely delighted the Celtic fans here in the Transfer Tavern.
Now the Bhoys in our bar can start to dream about a prolonged European adventure, reports emanating out of France really are not what they need right now.
Indeed, according to L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) Ligue 1 champions Monaco are considering a move for Hoops star, Moussa Dembele.
The Frenchman thrilled our punters clad in green and white last season – bagging 32 goals in all competitions – after joining on a free from Fulham.
As a result, Les Rouges et Blancs are said to be studying him as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe. The latter has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are already flush with clash after a major sale at the Stade Lous II this summer.
Currently out injured, the 21-year-old would surely command a huge fee, especially at this stage of the window, though our local Hoops want the club to reject any advances.
Surely staying with Celtic another season would be better for Dembele. Though keeping him in Scotland for years to come may be an unrealistic idea, their Champions League hopes largely rely on him and they’d have no time to land a replacement.
Sell him next summer, not this year.
