# West Ham United: Fans excited after Jesse Lingard update

**Flocking to Twitter, many West Ham United fans have been left buzzing after an update involving transfer target and Manchester United star Jesse Lingard.**

The 28-year-old, who [thrived on loan at the London Stadium](https://talksport.com/football/864306/jesse-lingard-premier-league-best-player-currently-raheem-sterling-england/) over the second half of 2020/21, has recently been linked with a potential return to West Ham in January.

This is despite him [opting against a return to the English capital](https://www.90min.com/posts/man-utd-transfer-news-jesse-lingard-west-ham-return) on a permanent deal last summer, instead choosing to fight for his place under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at his parent club.

Fast forward to the present and Lingard is back to being a [bit-part player at Old Trafford](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/109000/Show/Jesse-Lingard) as reports claim that Manchester United could now cut him loose mid-season at a cheaper £15m price ([The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/16383966/man-utd-january-transfer-jesse-lingard-england-contract/)).

Speaking on the West Ham Way Podcast (via [This is Futbol](https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/11/blogs/premier-league/west-ham/west-ham-united-exwhuemployee-claims-jesse-lingard-could-return-in-january/)), ExWHUemployee then claimed that the Irons could now move again for the 28-year-old in January amid his situation, while [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-tipped-to-seal-massive-lingard-signing-in-january-as-player-stance-revealed-pundit/) say that the Hammers are set to join the race along with Newcastle and Everton.

In another update, [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/football/premier-league/2021-2022/west-ham-return-for-jesse-lingard-tottenham-eye-erling-haaland-alternative-transfer-notebook_sto8615499/story.shtml) reporter Dean Jones has shared some encouraging news. According to [his information](https://www.eurosport.com/football/premier-league/2021-2022/west-ham-return-for-jesse-lingard-tottenham-eye-erling-haaland-alternative-transfer-notebook_sto8615499/story.shtml), the England international now ‘favours a return’ to West Ham above other clubs partly due to their form both domestically and abroad. Jones added that manager David Moyes could now turn to Lingard as he eyes winter reinforcements.

Flocking to this news, many Irons supporters have been left buzzing, and it’s little wonder going by his form for them last season. talkSPORT pundit Adrian Durham’s comments [back in April](https://talksport.com/football/864306/jesse-lingard-premier-league-best-player-currently-raheem-sterling-england/) are a fine example, describing the Red Devils ace as ‘phenomenal’ and calling him the Premier League’s ‘best player on current form’ at the time.

Check out some of the best verdicts from West Ham fans below, with Lingard now open to signing.
