# Liverpool: Arnaut Danjuma eyed as Sadio Mane’s successor

**According to a report from [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/liverpool-interested-in-villarreal-winger-danjuma-but/blt19809c3444a444f7), Liverpool are interested in signing Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma as a long-term replacement for Sadio Mane.**

### The lowdown: Long-standing admiration

The Reds have previously been [linked](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-danjuma-transfer-news-klopp-25879408) with a move for the 25-year-old and recent performances in Spain have only further cemented the former Bournemouth star’s burgeoning reputation.

Signed for £21.3million in 2021 ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11743/12384483/arnaut-danjuma-villarreal-agree-21-3m-deal-to-sign-bournemouth-winger)), Danjuma has scored [14 times and registered another four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arnaut-danjuma/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/355861) in 29 appearances so far for Unai Emery’s side.

Now it would appear that Liverpool’s interest in the Dutchman is only growing, with his [goal](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61002164) against Bayern Munich on Tuesday sure to catch the eye.

### The latest: Mane successor?

As per [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/liverpool-interested-in-villarreal-winger-danjuma-but/blt19809c3444a444f7), Liverpool, and by extension [new transfer guru Julian Ward](https://www.si.com/soccer/liverpool/articles/julian-ward-predecessor-of-liverpool-sporting-director-michael-edwards), are said to be ‘interested’ in signing Danjuma but are ‘unlikely to make a bid’ in the upcoming summer window.

It’s claimed that Liverpool view the [six-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arnaut-danjuma/nationalmannschaft/spieler/355861/verein_id/3379) Holland ace as a ‘possible successor’ to Mane – who is fast approaching the [final 12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sadio-mane/profil/spieler/200512) of a contract on Merseyside.

The report also states that the Reds ‘could sanction’ a bid next year for the winger with a [mooted](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1479486967192690689) €75million (£63million) release clause.

### The verdict: Rising star
