# Liverpool consider sensational £4.5m deal to see flop striker finally depart

![Mario Balotelli](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Mario-Balotelli-500x321.jpg)It’s come as no surprise to the Liverpool fans, otherwise smiling like proverbial Cheshire cats, that reports in the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3535730/Liverpool-FC-looking-sell-Mario-Balotelli-slash-4-5m-season-wage-bill.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490) suggest the club are looking to shift flop forward Mario Balotelli this summer.

A pitiful return of just eight goals in two season with both the Reds and AC Milan have seen the former Manchester City striker’s stock plummet at an alarming rate.

The Italian international was infamously brought in under former Brendan Rodgers as they looked to fill the void created upon Luis Suarez’s departure to Barcelona in the summer of 2014.

He proved to be a huge flop following his £16m move from the San Siro was farmed back out on loan to the *Rossoneri* at the start of this campaign.

It is [claimed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3535730/Liverpool-FC-looking-sell-Mario-Balotelli-slash-4-5m-season-wage-bill.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490) that the Serie A giants are covering up to £70,000 of his £90,000 a week wages, though the Merseysiders will have to recommence paying his deal in full once he returns to England.

[Unlikely](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36001976) to be kept on in Milan, the club are [said](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3535730/Liverpool-FC-looking-sell-Mario-Balotelli-slash-4-5m-season-wage-bill.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490) to be starting the process of identifying potential suitors for next season.

Amazingly, they [could](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3535730/Liverpool-FC-looking-sell-Mario-Balotelli-slash-4-5m-season-wage-bill.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490) even offer him a severance package on his one remaining year – meaning they may have to shell out around [£4.5m](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3535730/Liverpool-FC-looking-sell-Mario-Balotelli-slash-4-5m-season-wage-bill.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490)to get him to leave.

A money spinning move to the ludicrously wealthy Chinese Super League has been [suggested](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/12165685/Liverpool-plan-to-offload-Mario-Balotelli-to-Chinese-Super-League.html) in recent months for the 25-year old marksman.

Though Jurgen Klopp has issues with his striking department, with Christian Benteke struggling to convince, it is looking increasingly unlikely he will integrate the ex-Inter star back into the first-team.

**Does Balotelli have any chance of a serious top level career left in him? Could Klopp get the best out of him?**
