# Liverpool determined to land €40m star, improved bid expected

**The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern who’ve been trying to slot their vast array of attacking midfielders into their Dream XI could find their calculations further complicated.**

As if boasting the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum wasn’t enough, it seems Jurgen Klopp is not giving up the gun just yet.

According to Portuguese outlet *A Bola* (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/e40m-liverpool-bid-confirmed-klopp-set-go-even-get-man/)), the Reds are pressing ahead in their attempts to land EURO 2016 winner Joao Mario this summer.

The Merseyside giants are [understood](https://sportwitness.co.uk/euro-2016-stars-father-reveals-e40m-liverpool-offer-says-club-take-seriously/) to have already seen a €40m offer snubbed by Sporting Lisbon, though his exploits for the national side are [said](https://sportwitness.co.uk/e40m-liverpool-bid-confirmed-klopp-set-go-even-get-man/) to have left an impression on those at Anfield.

After seeing such a monumental offer rejected, the Kop giants are [believed](https://sportwitness.co.uk/e40m-liverpool-bid-confirmed-klopp-set-go-even-get-man/) to be trying to come up with an offer that the Portuguese outfit simply cannot refuse.

[Reported](https://sportwitness.co.uk/e40m-liverpool-bid-confirmed-klopp-set-go-even-get-man/) to have a [€60m](https://sportwitness.co.uk/e40m-liverpool-bid-confirmed-klopp-set-go-even-get-man/) release clause in Lisbon, the 23-year old has already been linked with moves to [Manchester United and Chelsea](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/690844/Joao-Mario-Man-Utd-MUFC-Chelsea-CFC-Sporting-Lisbon-Transfer-News-Rumours-Gossip).
