# Liverpool duo lined up by Premier League rival

**It proved a frustrating afternoon for the Liverpool fans propping up the bar as they watched their side draw O-O with Plymouth on the Transfer Tavern TV, setting up an unwelcome third-round replay deep down the south coast.**

Manager Jurgen Klopp opted to field one of the youngest Reds side in recent memory against the Pilgrims at Anfield and it rarely looked like working on a frustrating day on Merseyside.

Still, one of the feel-good factors of the day was the return of defender Joe Gomez after almost a year out of action with a serious ligament injury.

Signed by Brendan Rodgers in the summer of 2015, the 19-year-old’s return was a big boost for the Kop faithful, though reports from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4099188/Bournemouth-want-Mamadou-Sakho-Joe-Gomez-look-replace-Nathan-Ake.html) claim he could soon be on the move.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has [reportedly](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4099188/Bournemouth-want-Mamadou-Sakho-Joe-Gomez-look-replace-Nathan-Ake.html) identified the former Charlton man as a potential replacement for Nathan Ake, who was recently recalled by parent club Chelsea.

Gomez, along with teammate Mamadou Sakho, are [understood](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4099188/Bournemouth-want-Mamadou-Sakho-Joe-Gomez-look-replace-Nathan-Ake.html) to have been identified as targets by the Cherries, with the latter having been frozen out by Anfield chief Klopp.

However, the report [claims](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4099188/Bournemouth-want-Mamadou-Sakho-Joe-Gomez-look-replace-Nathan-Ake.html) Liverpool would prefer to sell the Frenchman on a permanent basis as interest across Europe swells in him.
