# Liverpool: Fans ecstatic after update on false positive test claims

**A number of Liverpool supporters have reacted in delighted fashion to a claim that the Reds won’t be investigated for possible false negative virus tests.**

The Reds have suffered a difficult period in their season, like so many clubs, with numerous players having to isolate after testing positive for the virus.

The likes of [Alisson](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/alisson-firmino-and-matip-return-suspected-positive-covid-19-tests), [Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10342773/Liverpool-Van-Dijk-Fabinho-Jones-return-training-Covid-isolation-comes-end.html) have all been ruled out at different times recently and Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge has been affected as a result, with just two points taken from the last nine on offer.

The Reds also saw their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal [cancelled last week](https://theathletic.com/news/liverpool-vs-arsenal-postponed-carabao-cup-semi-final/Jka7VOtJ6FDR/), with the Emirates Stadium fixture instead moved to 20 January.

On Monday, a story from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/news/efl-under-pressure-to-investigate-liverpool-postponement-after-klopp-admission/LAkVJdBc24Eu/) emerged claiming that the Reds could be investigated for reported false positives, in what was a worrying development for the club.

However, according to [The Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-covid-arsenal-carabao-cup-postponed-false-positives-efl-investigation-b976016.html) \[via [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1480861417683234819?s=20)\], that will not happen, with the EFL not planning to dig deeper into the issue.
