**Some Liverpool fans have been reacting to a report regarding the uncertainty surrounding the future of midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.**

[The Athletic’s](https://theathletic.co.uk/2366216/2021/02/07/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-football/)[James Pearce](https://theathletic.co.uk/author/james-pearce/) reported on Saturday that, as things stand, the 30-year-old will leave Anfield after a five-year stay at the club.

The situation surrounding the Dutchman and whether ore not he will sign an improved deal with the Reds has been circulating for months, with some [reports](https://www.90min.com/posts/gini-wijnaldum-wants-to-sign-new-liverpool-deal-as-contract-standoff-continues) suggesting that Wijnaldum is keen to stay with Liverpool if the numbers work for him.

The midfielder wrote his name into the Liverpool history books after scoring a brilliant brace during his side’s [4-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48179167) win over Barcelona in the Champions League back in 2019 but his time at Anfield looks to be coming to an end.

### Wijnaldum update sparks some Kop rage

**“This should not happen! Give him 4 more years and pay on a par with the top earners. He rarely is injured, he’s always giving 100% and we would have to pay a lot more for a replacement who won’t step straight in and be as reliable”**
