# Liverpool: Fans baulk at Ismaila Sarr’s reported £40m valuation

**Plenty of Liverpool fans have baulked at the price they would apparently need to pay to sign reported transfer target [Ismaila Sarr](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/liverpool-fans-excited-ismaila-sarr-transfer-latest/).**

The Watford winger, who has been linked with a potential move to Anfield (as per [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-fc-transfer-news-watford-ismaila-sarr-a4522661.html)), will seemingly cost prospective suitors at least £40m to sign him. That is according to an update from Guardian Sport’s deputy news editor Ed Aarons, who also claimed on Twitter (via [@ed\_aarons](https://twitter.com/ed_aarons/status/1295776454769352708)) that the Hornets had yet to receive any offers for the 22-year-old.

> Told that Watford have yet to receive any offers for Ismaila Sarr as yet. Senegal forward could cost £40m+

Sarr scored [six goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/leistungsdaten/spieler/410225), including [two against Liverpool](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3219210) in February, and provided [six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/leistungsdaten/spieler/410225) for Watford last season but was unable to prevent them from being relegated from the Premier League. The Hertfordshire club had made him their [record signing at £30m](https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/17825048.watford-announced-signing-ismaila-sarr-rennes/) from Rennes last year and [now believe that his value has increased](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-fc-transfer-news-watford-ismaila-sarr-a4522661.html) following his performances in the English top flight.

\[freshpress-poll id=”314743″\]

However, with Liverpool having signed the [prolific Mohamed Salah](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/148455) from Roma for [£36.9m](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jun/22/liverpool-transfer-deal-mohamed-salah-roma) back in 2017, many Reds fans feel that fellow right winger Sarr is overpriced, with one fan branding the £40m valuation as “ludicrous”. Another insisted that “Adama would be better” in reference to Wolves’ Adama Traore, who plays in the same position and ended the season with [six goals and 12 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adama-traore/leistungsdaten/spieler/204103) in all competitions, and who was also [linked with a potential move to the Reds](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1319422/Liverpool-news-Adama-Traore-transfer-assurance-Wolves-Man-City).

Check out some of the reaction from the Anfield faithful below:

> We should stay well away at that ludicrous price
