# Liverpool: Fans believe Joe Gomez is a better player than Manchester United’s Harry Maguire

**Liverpool fans were in agreement that defender Joe Gomez is better than Manchester United’s multi-million signing Harry Maguire.**

The 22-year-old joined the Reds under the Brendan Rodgers era for [£3.5m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/33210687) in 2015 and has established himself as a regular first-team starter alongside the Dutch colossus Virgil van Dijk, due to the absence of the Cameroonian defender Joel Matip due to injury. Before the clash with Wolves, he had made [13](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136451/Show/Joe-Gomez) Premier League appearances and has averaged 1.2 interceptions, conceded 0.8 fouls and has a pass success rate of 89.4% from 737 minutes this season, according to [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136451/Show/Joe-Gomez). Gomez has been part of a team that has kept seven clean sheets in a row, as per [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdaten/spieler/256178).

The Red Devils’ Maguire signed for the Manchester-based outfit for [£80m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49224905) from Leicester City in the summer and has been [heavily scrutinised](https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-harry-maguire-brutally-mocked-for-awful-defending-against-burnley-20200122) following recent performances. In comparison to Gomez, the 26-year-old has made [23](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-maguire/profil/spieler/177907) Premier League appearances and has averaged 1.7 interceptions, 0.8 fouls and has a pass success rate of 86.2% from 2160 minutes of play, as per [Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/99487/Show/Harry-Maguire). He was handed the [captain’s armband](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/harry-maguire-confirmed-as-new-man-utd-captain) by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.  Supporters were in agreement that Gomez was the better player and made their feelings clear on social media.
